Elizabeth Mitchell - "Froggie Went a Courtin'"

What is the most played CD's in our car? Elizabeth Mitchell hands down. These Cd's have well crafted arrangements of mostly traditional folksongs along with Elizabeth Mitchell's beautiful lyrical voice and acoustic instrumentation. I am a big fan of the song "Froggie Went a Courtin'" - in a future post I will talk about the hundreds of versions of this song that exist in oral tradition, each with their unique nonsense refrains. High on my list of favorites is a version very similar to this one, sung by Elizabeth Mitchell...

After watching this video, it made me nostalgic for my own wedding, almost 8 years ago. We had a our reception in a barn and subjected our guests to dancing simple two-line (contra) dances that I had actually taught my first graders that same year. It was a blast!
