Yo-Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin - Hush Little Baby

There is such a wealth of musical talent in this world. Thanks to Youtube, I am able to watch many of the world's greatest performers. In this stage of life, when I am not able to go to very many concerts, it is wonderful source of inspiration. I am just starting to share some of my favorite performers and performances with my son. It's a great way to talk about different instruments, styles and genres of music. I love this performance with Yo-Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin because of the interplay between McFerrin's voice with the cello, string bass and violin in a more upbeat rendition of a familiar lullaby. Bobby McFerrin has such a gift for using his voice to mimic the sound of instruments. His album "Hush" explores this even further with vocal renditions of classical masterworks by composers such as Bach. In this piece, he improvises with his voice mostly at the beginning. It's the little motif he sings before the lullaby that have been stuck in my head all evening :).
